Hudson, Wisconsin boasts a unique landmark that was built in 1855. It is called the “Octagon House”, and was built by John Moffat, an early settler and eventual judge in Saint Croix County. It is named for its unique shapes and sizes and its “8 sided” nature.
Electric radiant floor heating was not a technology available to Mr. Moffat, but it is available now – and Hudson, Wisconsin has a unique story. “Mr. Q called us with a unique situation,” said Anthony Lavit, Senior Sales Representative for InfraFloor. “He had a unique space which required custom sizing for each floor heating mat. Ordinarily, we would be able to do this with our tile product floor heat systems (InfraFloor Mat or InfraFloor Cable), however, this customer wanted to do a laminate floor, and so we prescribed our InfraFloor film product, which can be cut into unique sizes. It turns out we had 7 different mats – of mostly different sizes,” finished Anthony. “Also, he wanted one of his under-floor heating systems to operate off of 120V and the other to operate at 240V. We had a radiant floor heating solution for each situation!” So, it wasn’t as difficult as completing a floor heating project in the Octagon House, but it was a solution which required some thinking, and the availability of the most flexible floor heating system on the market today. “He gave me the dimensions – which were unique, and I was able make the customer very happy, and provide him the floor heating he needed.”
