In 1866 in Warrenton, Missouri, Ernst Schowengerdt built the United States Historical Landmark aptly named the “Schowengerdt House”. This home has stayed in the family until their last surviving grandchild passed away in 2002.
Radiant floor heating was not a part of the many architectural phases that this home went through, but it can be a big part of your renovations. In fact, Mr. L of the same Warrenton, Missouri was going through a renovation of his basement and decided to add a floor warming system to his plans. “It is the great benefit of radiant floor heating,” commented Stephen Kaempf, Vice President of Sales at Infrafloor, “ you can add a floor warming system to any construction plans you might have. Also – unlike hydronic radiant floor heating, you can add electric floor heating as a retrofit item to any room that you would like to.” Our cable floor warming system can serve as a sole source of heating for some projects or can be added as supplemental heat for other projects. The Schowengerdts lived in this home up until 2002, and history shows them serving the area in many capacities, as teachers, bankers, merchants and other involved citizens. There is a connection to radiant floor heating as it is an “affordable luxury”, not just reserved for the well to do, however, a very pragmatic construction. Floor heating will help you reduce your energy bills by allowing you to turn down your household thermostat and “localize” your heat to the rooms that you frequent the most.
