InfraFloor^® Installation

InfraFloor^® Cable is installed in 3 easy steps:

1. Loop InfraFloor Cable back-and-forth across the walking floor heating area using tape or FixFast™ cable strap to hold in place.
2. Spread thin-set mortar or self-leveling cement over the InfraFloor Cable.
3. Install tile over the Cables and connect them with floor sensor to the thermostat.
   Power on and enjoy!

Detailed installation instructions and helpful hints are provided with each InfraFloor Cable order.

For example:

• It's always best to start with a floor heating layout plan or drawing and take pictures of your installation.
• You can use duct tape or FixFast™ cable strap to attach InfraFloor Cable to the subfloor.
• Don't nick the heating wire :)
• Keep 2-3 inches between wires and from the obstacles.
• Don't make heating wires touch or cross each other :)
• If placing the floor heater under furniture, make sure it has legs to provide at least 2-3 inches of clearance for hot air to get out.
• Don't put floor heating wires under cabinets, bath tubs or flat-bottom furniture :)
• If installing several radiant floor heating cable sets on the floor, connect them all in parallel and then to thermostat.
• Don't connect floor heating cable sets in series by cutting the tail of one mat and connecting it to the lead wire/tail of another one :)
• Use an ohmmeter or multimeter to measure InfraFloor Cable resistance out of the box and after steps 1 and 3 to verify that InfraFloor Cable is in good condition prior to and after laying the floor.
• InfraFloor offers inexpensive multi-meters for making your resistance checks.
• Install a second floor heating sensor in the floor as a backup. Sensor failure is rare, but its low cost insurance to add a backup.
• Use a latex, acrylic or polymer-modified, Portland based thin-set mortar or self-leveling cement for your tile, marble, stone and other cementitious installations.
• Use a plastic trowel with appropriate notch size for your tile. InfraFloor provides plastic trowels to prevent wire nicks when tiling directly over InfraFloor Cable.
• Multiple InfraFloor Cables can be connected in parallel (not in series) to one thermostat:
  • Up to 150 S.F. with 120V supply
  • Up to 300 S.F. with 240V supply
  • InfraFloor offers power modules for installations larger than 300 S.F. on one thermostat.
  • Make sure to connect InfraFloor cables to appropriate voltage supply (example: 120V heating cables to 120V supply only)
